Probably S or RS Audis ... takes an expert to see whether they're trashed. Friend of mine looked at a used S4, took my advice and took it to a mechanic - needed an engine. A rebuild from the bottom up.

If you're not blind, a WRX is the best Craigslist buy.
Any Honda that's not an S2000 is a bad CL buy. 'JIGGUYF4534784 swap'

Honda Civic. Because 1) they'll all be terribly modified, and 2)

She'd never driven one, and she said it seemed peppy enough. The issue seems to be, from what I learned, that the seller got it off lease from someone who didn't care whether the car received regular oil changes because, at 48K, he was done with it.

E30 or E36... or Tavarish's E46 M3 :P
or any F-Body 3rd or 4th gen Firebird or Camaro!

Mmm F bodys with the illustrious 3.8L V6. "Immortalized on urinals everywhere"

I believe we have a new Craigslist game.

Cheap V12 Mercedes. Anything that cost more than a mediocre doctor's yearly salary when it was new.

But...but it's cheaper than a fully loaded Honda Accord!

2003-2007 Honda Accord. A lot of them are listed as 'need transmission' for way below what you'd think a tranny replacement would cost.
Then you look how much an Accord Tranny replacement costs...

Thats only the V6s and even then rebuilt trannys are reasonable. The problem is they WILL break again. Actually the bigger problem is they are AT Accords. AKA avoid AT all costs. The 5MT/6MT are so much better

I may be thinking of the TL's.

All the Accord related products (Accords, CLs, TLs, Odysseys and I think Pilots) with the 5 speed AT have transmission problems. Pretty much not worth buying.
